COLUMBUS -- Police at Ohio State University are investigating a 'self-inflicted shooting' that happened at the Wexner Arts Center for Arts Sunday.

Newport News, VIRGINIA — Today, at 12:41 p.m., communications received a 9-1-1 call in reference to an argument between two females at a residence in the 700 block of 31st Street.

When an officer arrived, both females were outside the residence.

One of the females advised the officer that there was a dog inside the residence and then proceeded to open the front door.

As the dog lunged toward the officer, the officer discharged his duty weapon and the dog was struck. The pit bull is currently alive and in the custody of animal control.

The investigation continues and I have no further information as to the condition of the dog.
