Panhandler Stabs Man in the Head Who Gave Him Money on Christmas Eve

WASHINGTON , D.C. — On December 24, 2015 at approximately 3:19 pm, officers responded to 7509 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie for a stabbing. Upon arrival the Anne Arundel County Fire Department was giving aid to the 41 year old male victim. The victim stated he was stabbed in the head by an older white male who took also his money.

The victim stated that while in the 7500 block of Ritchie Highway he was approached by the suspect. The suspect told the victim that he was recently robbed and did not have any money. The victim said he felt sorry for the suspect and took money from his pocket and gave the suspect a few dollars.

The victim then began to walk away when the victim, when the suspect pulled a knife out and stabbed the victim in the forehead. The victim said he grabbed his head and the suspect told him to give him his money. The victim asked the suspect why he was doing “this,” that he had just given him money and suspect replied that he was not going to be poor on Christmas.

The suspect told the victim if he did not give him his money that he was going to stab him again and then set him on fire. While the suspect was threatening to stab the victim a second time and set him on fire, the suspect began going through the victim’s pockets and took all of the victim’s money.

Several officers responded to the area to search for the suspect. A short time later, officers located a male subject that matched the description of the suspect. The subject detained, and was positively identified by the victim as the suspect that stabbed and robbed him.

During a search after the suspect’s arrest, officers recovered the knife used by the suspect and the money taken from the victim.

The suspect is Edward Wayne Kramer, 52. Police say he is homeless.
