MCALLEN, Texas – A Mexican national with a prior conviction for murder was arrested Monday by Border Patrol agents.

Agents from the McAllen Station arrested the man near Hidalgo, Texas as he attempted to illegally enter the United States.

During processing, agents discovered that the man was arrested in 1986 by the Pharr Police Department, convicted of murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The subject had been previously deported and will now be charged federally for felony re-entry after deportation.

“Thanks to the vigilance of Border Patrol agents, another dangerous criminal has been arrested,” Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla, Jr. said. “I am proud of the outstanding job that our agents do to keep our communities safe.”
