KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Andrew Lester, an 84-year-old man, has been charged by Clay County Prosecutor Zachary Thompson with first-degree assault and armed criminal action in connection with the shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Kansas City.

The victim, Ralph Yarl, was reportedly shot after he went to the wrong house to pick up his siblings.

A warrant has been issued for Lester’s arrest, and his bond has been set at $200,000.

The news of the charges against Lester was announced shortly after the Kansas City Police Department submitted its case file to the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Ralph Yarl’s father says that his son is now out of the hospital and on the road to recovery.

Court documents reveal that Lester fired through a glass door, and Yarl did not enter the home.
