An investigation is underway regarding an alleged altercation involving U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, at a restaurant in Silt, Colorado, as confirmed by local police on Sunday.
Details about the incident that occurred on Saturday remain unclear, but Boebert’s campaign issued a statement on Sunday, stating, “[I] didn’t punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested. I will be consulting with my lawyer about the false claims he made against me and evaluate all of my legal options.”
Police Chief Mike Kite acknowledged the ongoing investigation but refrained from disclosing specifics, such as the initiator of the police call. Law enforcement officers are planning to interview witnesses and request any potential surveillance footage from the restaurant owners. The Miner’s Claim restaurant, where the incident allegedly took place, was closed on Sundays, and attempts to contact them were unsuccessful.
Expressing regret over the situation, Boebert stated in her release, “This is a sad situation for all and another reason I’m moving.”

Lauren Boebert, a Republican who has represented the western side of Colorado in the U.S. House for two terms, recently announced her decision on December 27 to switch congressional districts this year. She aims to run for a seat representing the eastern side of Colorado, which became available due to the retirement of Republican U.S. Rep. Ken Buck. Boebert faced controversy in September when she and a guest were expelled from a Denver musical performance of “Beetlejuice” for alleged disruptive behavior, including vaping, singing, and using phones. She later issued an apology for the incident.
