CALIFORNIA — On February 9, 2016, a juvenile reported to police she had been involved in an inappropriate relationship with her adult gymnastics coach. It was discovered the suspect picked up the juvenile at her residence and took her to La Jolla Shores on several occasions. Detectives interviewed the juvenile and determined the two have been involved in a sexual relationship over the last several months.
The victim attends Champion Gymnastics and Cheer, in Santee, where the suspect was employed. The owner of the business has been cooperative and immediately terminated the coach.
The suspect was identified as Patrick Wehrung, 25 years old, unmarried and a resident of Santee, California. The arrest occurred without incident in Santee on February 9, 2016.
The victim is a minor, and her identity will not be released. Wehrung was charged with 288a(b)2 PC Oral Copulation, 261.5 PC Unlawful Sexual Intercourse and 289 (1) PC Penetration with a Foreign Object.
