SAN JOSE — On November 11, 2015 at approximately 12:52 A.M., Officer responded to the 300 block of Bautista Place on a report of a subject trying to break into a residence.

Neighbors told Mercury News they saw the man, who lives in the two-story complex, walking on the roof and periodically tapping on residents’ windows and asking to be let in, giving the appearance that he had locked himself out of his home.

Officers made contact at a residence possibly associated to the suspect. Officers contacted the suspect at the front door of the residence.

The suspect was dressed in full military type clothing armed with an assault rifle. As officers were giving the suspect verbal commands, the suspect lifted the assault rifle in the direction of officers.

One Officer fired and the suspect was not hit. The Suspect retreated into the residence and officers continued to give verbal commands. The suspect complied and was taken into custody.

The suspect, later identified as Shannon Nathan Wong, 36 years old, was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.

No officers were injured. The officer, a 17 year veteran of the San Jose Police Department, was placed on paid administrative leave.

Weapons recovered from his person: Loaded AR 15 assault rifle and a Loaded Colt 1911 handgun.
