CALIF. (LACDAO) – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced Friday that Matthew Scott Reyes has been charged with the rape and robbery of two women in the Koreatown area.
“The abhorrent acts of sexual assault against these women are deeply disturbing and reprehensible crimes that will not be tolerated in our community,” District Attorney Gascón said. “We believe there are more victims who have been targeted and assaulted by this individual. Far too often, survivors are afraid to come forward for fear of retaliation, but please be assured that my office stands with you and is here to provide you with trauma-informed victim services, and to work diligently to hold Mr. Reyes accountable for his alleged heinous actions.”
Matthew Scott Reyes is charged with two counts of forcible oral copulation, two counts of forcible rape, and two counts of second-degree robbery. Reyes pled not guilty to all counts.
On September 28, the first victim was in the area of Western Avenue and 1st Street when she allegedly met with Reyes and entered his vehicle. As they drove around, he pulled out a gun and threatened to kill her if she did not comply with his demands. Reyes allegedly proceeded to sexually assault and rob her before she fled.
On October 3, a second victim came forward stating that about a month prior, she was in the area of Western Avenue and 2nd Street where she was allegedly approached by Reyes and entered into his car. He then allegedly drove away, stopped in a secluded area, pointed a gun at the victim, and sexually assaulted and robbed her.
Reyes is being held on a $1,500,000 bail.
