The Duluth, Georgia Police Department is reminding drivers to be vigilant around railroad tracks after a car was hit by a train.

“Last Friday night, around 9:45 PM, officers responded to this crash involving a train that collided with a car at the railroad crossing on Duluth Hwy near Buford Hwy,” the department said. “The driver told officers she was unfamiliar with the area and accidentally turned right onto the train tracks and became stuck. She exited her vehicle before it was hit by an oncoming train. If your car stalls or gets stuck on the railroad tracks, immediately call 911.”
