East Baltimore — Eron Johnson was sentenced to Life in prison after a jury found him guilty of second degree assault and first degree sex offense in February of 2018.

On April 27, 2017, at 3:00 a.m., police received a call for a possible rape in progress at Old Town Mall. Upon arrival, officers spotted Johnson running away from his victim. Police pursued and apprehended him.

Police then spoke with the victim, who said she was sexually assaulted and identified Johnson as her attacker. She informed police that Johnson had a knife in his left front pocket. Police searched Johnson and located the knife described by the victim.

The victim was interviewed and reported that she was walking through the area when Johnson approached her and asked, “Are you trying to make some money?”

After the victim refused, Johnson dragged her into an abandoned storefront, threatened her, and sexually assaulted her. The victim tried to get away but the defendant pulled out a knife, forced the victim to the ground, put the knife to her throat, and threatened to punch her in her face. He then dragged her back to the storefront and sexually assaulted her again.

A passerby heard the victim’s cries and called 911.

Johnson was on parole for a conviction in 2001 for 2nd degree rape at the time he committed this crime.

“Let the severity of this sentence be a cautionary tale to sex offenders, that this violent repeat predatory behavior will not be tolerated,” said State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby. “My administration will remain steadfast in protecting the public, leveraging all its resources to ensure people who commit heinous crimes of this nature are punished and removed from society.”
