NEW YORK — A multi-vehicle wreck on the outbound Gowanus Expressway left at least one person injured and a car upended.
As many as five vehicles collided on the westbound Gowanus Expressway at Seventh Avenue in Bay Ridge at around 6:15 a.m.
Video from the scene showed one of cars wedged under another car that could be seen standing on its nose.
Following a 30-minute extrication, the person in the crushed vehicle was removed and taken to Lutheran Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The Gowanus Expressway outbound at Fort Hamilton Parkway had all lanes closed.
The inbound HOV lane was also blocked and rubbernecking delays inbound stretched back across the Verrazano Bridge onto the Staten Island Expressway and back to Victory Boulevard.
