LOS ANGELES — A 41-year-old convicted sex offender was sentenced today after a jury found him guilty of kidnapping and attempting to sexually assault two women in Pasadena.

Anthony Seth McDaniel was convicted on Oct. 17, 2018, of two felony counts of ‘kidnapping to commit oral copulation.’

As a result of the sentencing, McDaniel will have to serve a minimum of 28 years in prison before being eligible for parole.

On April 30, 2016, McDaniel convinced the two 18-year-old victims to get into his truck by offering them a ride. Once he had them trapped, McDaniel attempted to sexually assault both of them, the prosecutor said.

According to evidence presented at trial, one woman injured herself after jumping out of the defendant’s vehicle while he was on the on-ramp of the 210 Freeway in Pasadena.

The second woman managed to escape after causing a traffic collision on the 110 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, the prosecutor added. It is believed that McDaniel was taking them to his home in Compton, the prosecutor said.

During the kidnapping, McDaniel, who was convicted in 2008 for assault with intent to commit rape, was wearing an ankle monitor.
