RUSSIA — (Scroll down for video) — A police patrol’s dashboard camera caught the moment a young teenage girl was smashed into by a car that had failed to stop at a zebra crossing.

The incident took place in the central Russian town of Omsk and was witnessed by the two officers who quickly got out of their car to see if the girl was alright.

Footage taken from their dashcam shows the Russian-made Lada crashing into the unnamed 17-year-old just as she started crossing the street on the pedestrian crossing.

The driver of the white car did not slow down when approaching the crossing, nor did he notice the girl because his view was obstructed by a vehicle to his right.

The Lada hit the girl so hard that she was knocked to the ground several yards away and was unable to get up afterwards.

The police officers rushed to her aid as she lay on the ground in the foetal position.

The end of the video shows on of the cops carrying the girl in his arms to his car. They are then said to have driven her to a local hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with just a light head injury and some bruises and scratches.

Police are still investigating the case and are not commenting on the matter.

The video has since appeared online and on local news portals, where members of the public have commented on it.

One disgruntled anonymous netizen wrote: “It’s strange how our policemen are actually able to do something good for once and not just hustle people and take bribes.”

Another, also nameless, said the policeman’s handling of the injured girl was improper, adding: “They should not have moved her, they should have waited for an ambulance crew.”
