WATCH: (Scroll Down For Video) Authorities have now released shocking footage that shows dozens of prisoners at a maximum-security prison in Arizona beating correctional officers.
Nearly 30 inmates are seen attacking the seven officers during a meal, the video from April shows.
The guards being attacked were armed with stun guns and pepper spray.
The fight reportedly started when inmates got upset that officers were walking through the tables of the cafeteria, according to FOX.
One guard suffered such severe injuries that he didn’t return to work, while a female officer was also hurt in the brutal beating.
It is unknown if any of the inmates were injured in the fight.
Two years ago, an Arizona prison complex was put on lockdown after a fight broke out among 400 inmates.
Two staffers suffered minor injuries and 17 inmates were taken to area hospitals with injuries. The extent of the inmates’ injuries wasn’t immediately available.
Prison officials cancelled visitations for the day to the entire prison after the fight.
The prison is investigating the cause of the fight, which broke out in the Whetstone Unit.
