KNOXVILLE, TENN — (News Release / Knoxville PD) — On Monday, August 1, 2016, at approximately 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call on Daylily Drive in Montgomery Village. While officers were responding to the scene the call was upgraded to a shooting with a victim. When officers arrived on the scene they located a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
While officers were directing EMT’s and first responders from the Knoxville Fire Department to the scene additional gunshots were fired from a couple of buildings away from where the officers were assisting the victim. The officers immediately called for additional officers to respond and to help establish a safe perimeter that would allow first responders to reach the victim safely.

KPD Officer Jordan Henderson was travelling west on Moody Avenue while KPD Officer Zach Wilson was travelling south on Chapman Highway when they struck each other in the intersection. Both officers were transported to UT Medical Center where they are still being evaluated. Neither officer suffered life-threatening injuries.
The shooting victim, Daniel Wells (DOB 3-9-90), was transported to UT Medical Center where he is being treated for a potentially life-threatening injury. The victim was shot by an acquaintance during an on-going dispute. No one has been arrested at this time.
Officers have initially been unable to determine from where the shots were fired and their intended targets.
