NEW YORK — Cops in Brooklyn arrested a man in possession of a loaded handgun who had just committed a larceny Thursday afternoon. Lieutenant Bruce Ceparano and Police Officer Angelo Rossignolo were on patrol when Lieutenant Ceparano received an alert on his NYPD smartphone that a larceny was in progress at the subway station on Gravesend Neck Road and East 16 Street. The alert, that came into the NYPD issued smartphone before being dispatched by a 911 operator, gave details to the two officers that a man had grabbed a cell phone from a subway passenger.

After stopping the suspect further investigation revealed he was in possession a loaded .357 Smith and Wesson revolver. The suspect was positively identified by the victim as the man who took the cell phone.
