DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station arrested a Mexican national convicted of murder.

“The apprehension of criminal aliens is of utmost importance to the security of this nation,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodolfo Karisch. “I commend our agents for their dauntless work and sacrifice.”

On Jan. 23, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station apprehended Efrain Sandoval-Perez attempting to re-enter the United States illegally near Eagle Pass. Sandoval-Perez was then transported to the Eagle Pass South Station for processing in accordance with CBP guidelines. Record checks revealed the 45-year-old was convicted of murder in Dallas in 1995 and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Sandoval-Perez was then removed from the United States in 2012.

The subject is being processed for 8 USC § 1326 – re-entry after deportation – and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.

In a separate unrelated incident on Jan. 23, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Station apprehended three Mexican nationals and later determined they were wanted in connection with a murder committed the day prior in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico. Subjects will be processed in accordance with CBP guidelines and turned over to proper Mexican authorities upon completion.
