South Korea is actively planning to assemble a military force aimed at removing Kim Jong-un from power.

The country’s defence minister said the unit will “take action” if the North shows signs of attacking South Korea.

This is part of the “Korea Massive Punishment and Retaliation” plan, a military response announced after North Korea’s fifth nuclear test on Sept. 9.

Seoul described the recent nuclear test by the North as an “act of fanatic recklessness”.

South Korea’s parties have united on the issue of nuclear weapons, with the opposition leader saying that if China and Russia failed to join sanctions against North Korea’s nuclear development, weapons must be deployed.

The country’s defence minister made the comments during a parliamentary meeting in Seoul.

“The nuclear warheads fired by the KPA as punishment will completely reduce to ashes Seoul, the center of confrontation,” the General Staff of the KPA said in response to these plans.
