NYPD Housing officers from PSA 8 in the Bronx arrested a man for impersonating a police officer and recovered four stun guns on Sunday. At approximately 6:00 p.m. Lieutenant Felipe and Police Officers Bravo, Martinez and Acosta were on patrol in front of Soundview Houses on Randall Avenue when they observed what appeared to be an unmarked police vehicle.

The black Ford Crown Victoria sped away when the officers drove past and then proceeded to run numerous red traffic lights at a high rate of speed. Suspicious of the vehicle’s authenticity, the officers followed the car to Gleason Avenue and Rosedale Avenue where they stopped the driver.

As the officers approached the vehicle they observed the driver wearing an imitation police badge and four emergency radio scanners tuned to police frequencies. Four stun guns, handcuffs, mace, a gravity knife, as well as cocaine and marijuana were found to be inside the vehicle. The front and rear windows of the Ford Crown Victoria contained emergency police lights.

The 40-year-old man was placed under arrest and charged with impersonating a police officer, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon.
