Student charged after posting a threatening photo to Snapchat regarding school violence

NEW YORK — On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 3:00 p.m., the New York State Police were notified of a possible threat of school violence at the Mexico High School.

The threat involved a digital image posted to snapchat. The investigation determined that a student photographed another student holding a firearm and posted the image with a caption “Next School Shooter” on snap chat.

Both students were interviewed by state Police investigators.

A 16 year-old juvenile, whose name won’t be released because of their age, was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Aggravated Harassment 2nd degree and Falsely Reporting an Incident 3rd degree, all class “A” misdemeanors.
