DALLAS, TEXAS — On Wednesday, January 06, 2016, at about 5:25 a.m., five (5) masked, gloved, and hooded suspects backed a stolen 1996 Chevrolet Pickup through the storefront of the Dunlap Swain Texaco located at 4826 Cole Avenue. Several witnesses stated they observed a white pickup back into the building, pull out, and backed through the building again. Three to four suspects ran into the building. Shortly after, the suspects were seen running out of the building and the pickup fled south on Travis Street. The witnesses called 911 and officers responded to the location.

A Highland Park officer was in the area and observed a pickup turn onto the 3200 block of Hester. By the time the Highland Park officer got to the vehicle, there were no suspects in the vehicle. Another witness observed two (2) of the suspects jump the fence to an apartment complex and flee toward the Katy Trail. Patrol officers set up a perimeter and called for a K9 Unit and Air 1. K9 searched the area and lost the track around Travis and Knox. We believe the suspects were picked up by another vehicle.

The suspects in this offense were targeting the safe and were unsuccessful. The offense was aborted. The investigation continues and this offense is documented on case #004249-2016. The vehicle used in the offense today, was stolen on Tuesday, January 5, 2015 on case #003387-2016. This same vehicle was used in an ATM offense that occurred in Garland yesterday, January 5, 2015.
