Harris County, TX — (HCSO) — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Unit has arrested and charged the suspect wanted for shooting into a vehicle and wounding a 10 year old female.

Members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force (GCVOFTF) took into custody this morning, December 8, 2015, Manuel Cervantes (04/29/1990). Investigators say that Cervantes was the suspect who shot into a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 32 year old mother and her three children.

On November 12, 2015 at around 6:10 pm, Cervantes was driving a 1998 Cadillac Deville, when he struck the back of the woman’s Jeep at a traffic light. He then fled without stopping to exchange information. The mother attempted to follow Cervantes and record his license plate by her cell phone.

Cervantes then slowed his speed, rolled his window down and fired a pistol several times at the Jeep.

A 10 year old female in the backseat was struck by the jacket of the bullet after it passed through a door frame. She received a non-life threating wound and is doing well.

Investigators received information on the whereabouts of Cervantes, and his attempt to conceal his vehicle after the shooting took place.
