The man that was wanted for slashing a stranger in Manhattan has been arrested.
The NYPD has said that they apprehended Kari Bazemore, aged 41, after a witness recognized the man walking near St Patrick’s Cathedral.
The witness then followed Bazemore and then alerted two NYPD officers who took him into custody.
He was charged with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the attack.
The Brooklyn woman was walking in the upscale Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea around 6:30am Wednesday morning.
According to police, Bazemore has been arrested 32 times since the 1990s, including a 2013 arrest for forcible touching and a charge in February for grand larceny.
On December 30, he was also arrested for punching a random woman on East 8th Street.
She was taken to Bellevue Hospital where she received seven stitches and was then released.
The victim said she had never seen the man before the unprovoked attack but called on others to be aware of the dangers of walking along in the early hours.
