CALIFORNIA — A little after 10:00 p.m. on May 6, 2016, Sheriff’s deputies went to a residence in the 1000 block of Clinton Road to make contact with a 31 year old male suspect with an outstanding felony warrant in the amount of $1,500,000.

The outstanding warrant was for assault with a deadly weapon, firearms, and narcotics related charges.

Deputies arrived at the residence and observed the suspect entering the house. When officers attempted to contact the suspect at the front door, he barricaded himself inside the house and stated he had a gun.

Deputies established a perimeter around the house. An adult female exited the residence almost immediately without incident.

The Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail, Negotiators, and the Explosives Ordinance Detail arrived at the scene. Initially, negotiators were able to have dialogue with the suspect, but the suspect refused to surrender.

After several hours, the suspect cut off communication with negotiators.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. this morning, tactical officers entered the residence and located the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a bedroom. Several residences surrounding the suspect’s house were evacuated during the incident.
