California — Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have booked Isaac McCoy, 30, of Fresno into the Fresno County Jail.
He faces misdemeanor charges of possessing stolen property, possessing drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant for a misdemeanor crime.
Around 5:00 pm on Monday, deputies responded to the area of N. Palm and San Ramon Ave. in Fresno to check the welfare of a man. A witness reported that he appeared to be disoriented and was walking into the roadway. Deputies arrived and found the man, Isaac McCoy, standing on a median along a frontage road and looking into a parked car. The deputies recognized McCoy from calls in the past and they detained him.
For safety reasons, the deputies searched McCoy. He was wearing several layers of clothing, including a red jumpsuit from that Fresno County Jail, which was under his coat and jeans. He claims he bought the jumpsuit off someone on the streets.
A further search revealed various items in his pockets, including four meth pipes. Two of the pipes had been converted into crack pipes.
As McCoy was going through the screening process at the jail, correctional officers found he was wearing two white t-shirts with the word “PRISONER” on them, which also belonged to the Fresno County Jail. He faces possession of stolen property charges for the shirts and jumpsuit because they belong to Fresno County. He was later issued a new jumpsuit and checked into a floor of the jail.
It’s unclear when McCoy obtained the stolen clothing. His last stay in the jail was in February, however, he has been an inmate a total of 40 times dating back to 2005.
