Tennessee High School Student Had Loaded Handgun on Campus, Police say

NASHVILLE — 18-year-old Hillsboro High School senior Edwin Brodnax today was charged with felony drug and weapon charges after marijuana and a loaded .25 caliber handgun were recovered from a car in the school’s parking lot.

West Precinct Flex officers were investigating a separate case of illegal drug activity at 11 a.m. when they saw a digital scale with marijuana residue in the center console of a 2008 Dodge Charger. The loaded gun was found in the driver side door panel. Nearly 30 grams of marijuana was recovered from the driver side floorboard. Further investigation led to the identification of Brodnax as the person who had driven the car onto school grounds.

Brodnax is charged with marijuana possession with intent to sell, gun possession during the commission of a felony, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.
