Tennessee Woman Mauled To Death By Her Own Dog, Cops Say

TELLICO VILLAGE, TENN. – Loudon County Sheriff’s Detectives are on scene of a fatality involving a Tellico Village woman who appears to have been killed by her own dog.

At approximately 6:52 pm, a 911 call was received from witnesses who reported seeing a dog attacking a human. Multiple deputies responded and on scene found a large black
dog standing over a body. Deputies were unable to approach the victim due to the potential attack from the dog and a LCSO Deputy was forced to shoot and kill the animal.

The victim, later identified as a local Tellico Village woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Priority EMS Paramedics. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of family. Her body will be transported to the Knox County Regional Forensics Center for an autopsy.

The deceased animal will be taken to UT Veterinarian College for a necropsy.

This investigation is ongoing.
