A terminally ill boy has been granted his final wish to be a sheriff for a day.

Kaleb Holder, aged 8, was diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy, a brain disorder.

Kaleb was diagnosed with the disorder on January 5th.

His mother, Janelle Daly, said that their doctor confirmed that he has around three months before he loses his ability to walk, talk, hear and see.

She went on to say that by June, Kaleb will be in a vegetative state.’

‘He’s in the advanced stages of the disease, here’s nothing they can do. The only form of treatment is a bone marrow transplant, but that’s only if it’s caught early. [Doctors] said he has about three months before he loses his abilities to walk, talk, see, hear…. He’s going to be in a [vegetative] state because it’s a brain disease. After that he’s going to pass in a year, maybe. He’s already started to decline and it’s very scary.’

“Ever since Kaleb was in preschool … he loves law enforcement,” Daly said. “That’s all he wants to be when he grows up.”

Kaleb was then brought into the sheriff’s office, where he was sworn in and took for a ride in a patrol car.

Kaleb also met the county’s president judge and received a replica of a sheriff’s vehicle.
