EL PASO, TEXAS — An El Paso Police officer has been arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a deadly crash.
The Off-duty Officer was the driver of one of the three vehicles involved in a collision that resulted in a death on IH 35 in Williamson County early Tuesday morning.
KFOX reported: According to DPS, the driver of a white Hyundai, who is an off-duty El Paso police officer, was driving over 100 MPH when he rear-ended one of the tractor trailers.
The driver of that truck pulled over to see if the Hyundai driver was okay. DPS says that’s when a second tractor trailer hit debris from the crash and skidded off the roadway, killing the truck driver who had gone to check on the driver of the Hyundai.
Officer Alan Dieguez is a three-year veteran of the El Paso Police Department and is assigned to the Northeast Regional Command Center.
Dieguez will be placed on administrative leave upon his return to El Paso.
