The World Health Organization say the deadly virus has now claimed upwards of five thousand lives.

In the largest Ebola outbreak ever recorded, more than 14,000 people have been sickened, most in West African countries of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. In the most affected countries, medical officials whom are in close contact with patients, often don’t use proper protection. A large number of new cases involve health care workers who become infected trying to help others.

Ebola is spread through direct contact with blood and body fluids of a person infected by and already showing symptoms of Ebola. Ebola is not spread through the air, water, food, or mosquitoes.
