ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — Principal Stephen Maresca died suddenly while on vacation with his wife this past week. He worked at the Arroyo del Oso Elementary school.
A crisis team will be at the school Monday and Tuesday to help students and staff who are having a hard time dealing with the news.
School Officials say Maresca died from a heart attack.
Maresca started with the district as a teacher in 2007. He’s been a principal at Arroyo del Oso since 2012.
“Those of you who knew Mr. Maresca are aware how much happiness mattered to him. He brought great joy to us all. For that we thank you, Mr. Maresca, for always giving your utmost service and dedication to the school and the students. We will miss you,” Associate Superintendent Diane Kerschen said.
