On Tuesday, a grand jury responsible for evaluating evidence related to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election involving Donald Trump and others, issued an indictment in federal court in Washington.

The former President was charged with four counts Tuesday; conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

Six unidentified co-conspirators were also named in the court filing.

This development followed Trump’s social media post in which he expressed expectations of being indicted by special counsel Jack Smith’s office. Smith has been leading the investigation into Trump’s actions following the 2020 election and also examining his handling of classified documents.

This is a breaking news update.
