Former President Donald Trump has expressed uncertainty about his participation in the GOP’s first primary debate for the 2024 election, suggesting the possibility of organizing his own event.

Trump cited his commanding position in polls and his perception of bias against him by Fox News.

During a telephone interview with Reuters, Trump responded with a “possibly not” when asked about his presence at the debate, which is scheduled to be hosted by Fox News in Milwaukee on August 23.

Trump called Fox a “hostile network” and questioned the value of participating in a debate with candidates like former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who trail far behind him in the polls.

“Why would I give them time to make statements? Why would I do that when I’m leading them by 50 points and 60 points?” Trump said.

“We’ve had a lot of offers, whether it’s a rally or whether it’s an interview by somebody else,” he told Reuters. “Not to be braggadocious, but the debate will not be a very exciting one if I’m not there.”
