A strong magnitude 7.8 earthquake stuck off the coast of Ecuador late on Saturday.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center confirmed that this has created the possibility of dangerous waves along the coasts of Ecuador and Colombia.
The quake was centered off the coast of Ecuador at a shallow depth of 10km west northwest of its capital.
“Hazardous tsunami waves from this earthquake are possible within 300 km of the epicenter along the coasts of Ecuador and Colombia,” the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.
