On Monday, Fox News announced that it has parted ways with Tucker Carlson, a highly rated host and influential figure in the conservative movement.
The bombshell news came shortly after the network agreed to pay almost $800 million to Dominion Voting Systems in order to avoid a defamation lawsuit. It’s unclear if the lawsuit played a role in Carlson’s departure.
In a brief statement, Fox News Media confirmed that they and Carlson have parted ways, with his last show airing on April 21st.

Carlson did not give any indication that he was leaving during his most recent broadcast, saying on Friday’s show, “We’ll be back Monday!”
Interim hosts will be used until a permanent replacement for the 8 p.m. ET slot is found.
