Prime Minister Theresa May and US President-elect Donald Trump held their first talks by telephone on Thursday afternoon.
They spoke about the special relationship between the UK and US and strengthening bilateral trade.
Mr Trump also asked Mrs May to visit America “as soon as possible” adding it would be “a great honour to welcome her to Washington”, Downing St said.
The call took place before Mr Trump’s meeting with President Obama at the White House.
