Mendoza is currently being held in the Multnomah County Jail and will later be booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of Murder, Four counts of Assault in the Second Degree and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

The investigation has shown that the deceased victim, Daryl Jones, was not involved in the altercation that led to the shooting and was shot as he was sitting at the counter. All further media releases in these cases will be through the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, Deputy District Attorney Brian Orrio on the incident at Stars Cabaret, and Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Gardiner on the incident on Burlington Lp.

The Salem Police Department has investigated four shootings in the span of thirteen days. Salem Police Chief Jerry Moore stated “Four shootings in a span of less than two weeks can shake the confidence of a community. I want to let everyone know our detectives have worked tirelessly to identify all those involved, and ensure those responsible are in custody.”

Added Chief Moore, “These cases did not involve stranger to stranger encounters, although in one case innocent and unrelated victims were impacted. In each of these cases someone known to a victim was identified as the suspect. There are no unaccounted for suspects in the community, and I would hope everyone would understand that and be somewhat comforted knowing those facts. The Salem Police Department would like to thank the public for their assistance to our investigators in resolving these cases and identifying those responsible for these acts. Together we can continue to keep Salem a safe and welcoming community.”
