The officer then followed the suspect in a marked RMP with its emergency lights on and attempted to perform a traffic stop. In an attempt to flee from the officer, the suspect drove into oncoming westbound traffic on Empire Boulevard just before Brooklyn Avenue when he collided into a parked flatbed truck in the median of Empire Boulevard.

The 24 year-old male suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot northbound on Brooklyn Avenue from Empire Boulevard and then turned eastbound on Montgomery Street followed by the uniformed officer, also on foot.
