Chesterfield, VA. — Police have obtained a murder warrant for Joshua M. Federico (pictured), 44, in addition to the two warrants previously obtained for him in relation to a shooting that occurred in the 13700 block of Second Branch Road on Aug. 24.

The murder warrant was obtained after human remains, believed to be those of Lawrence J. Howell, 38, were discovered on a property adjacent to Federico’s residence. The preliminary investigation indicated Howell may have been injured during the Aug. 24 shooting.

At about 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 24, 2018, police responded for a report of an adult female with multiple gunshot wounds. The female, who lived at the residence in the 13700 block of Second Branch Road, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On Aug. 24, police obtained warrants for Federico, of the 12300 block of Black Road, for malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in relation to the shooting.

Federico is the female victim’s estranged husband. Howell, who lived at the residence in the 13700 block of Second Branch Road, was the boyfriend of the female victim.

The suspect was last seen in the Deer Run area at a Publix store, not wearing shirt.

Police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information about Federico’s whereabouts, or this incident, to contact Chesterfield County Police at 804-748-1251 or Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660 or through the P3 app.
