During an emotional hearing with families of victims late on Tuesday, Texas State Representative Joe Moody revealed that the Uvalde school shooter had written the acronym ‘LOL’ in the blood of his victims on a classroom whiteboard.

Moody, who participated in the investigation into the massacre, shocked the families with the gruesome detail, prompting gasps and horror.

“The attacker scooped up the blood of his victims and smeared it into his disgusting message,” Moody said. “What he wrote in innocent blood next to that was the phrase ‘LOL’.”

The hearing lasted well into the night, with families testifying and calling for stricter gun laws.

A bill to increase the age to purchase certain semi-automatic rifles from 18 to 21 is being considered by a state House committee. Families and supporters of the bill hope that it will be passed in response to last year’s mass shooting, but opposition from Republicans has hindered its progress.
