Actor Verne Troyer, who passed away at a hospital in April, was found to have died from alcohol intoxication, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said.

On April 3, Troyer, 49, of North Hollywood was taken by paramedics from his home located in the 8000 block of Teesdale Avenue in North Hollywood to a hospital in Van Nuys for reported alcohol intoxication.

Three weeks later, on April 21, Troyer was pronounced dead at the hospital at 11:27 a.m.

On April 22, an autopsy was performed on Troyer and a cause of death was deferred pending further investigation.

It was later determined Troyer died from sequelae of alcohol intoxication.

The manner of death was certified as a suicide.

A spokesperson for the actor said after his death: “Over the years he’s struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately this time was too much. Depression and suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. Be kind to one another. And always know, it’s never too late to reach out to someone for help.”
