UPDATE: New York Newborn Allegedly Assaulted By Her Father Has Died

UPDATE: Child victim has passed away from injuries; Had been on life-support.

NEW YORK — The State Police in Queensbury have arrested 24 year old Nicholas Jones of Johnsburg in conjunction with the assault of a 22 day old infant who is currently in critical condition at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

An investigation began shortly after Troopers responded to a residence in Johnsburg at approximately 5:00 am for an emergency involving an infant who was reported to not be breathing. A further medical examination of the infant also determined that the infant suffered from injuries indicative of physical assault. Jones, who is the father, was questioned as part of the investigation and was subsequently arrested.

Jones was charged with Assault in the first degree, a class B felony, Reckless assault of a child, a class D felony, and Endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the state police to include both uniform and Bureau of Criminal Investigation personnel along with members of the Forensics Investigation Unit and in consult with the Warren County District Attorney’s Office.

Jones was arraigned before Judge Vince Schiavone in the Town of Johnsburg Court and remanded to the Warren County Jail on 100,000 cash/200,000 bond and is due back in court on April 1, 2016 at 1:00 pm.

The infant is currently at Albany Medical Center Hospital in critical condition with injuries that are considered to be life threatening.
