WATCH: Suspect Repeatedly Rams Cop Car, Evades Officers

NEW MEXICO — Just before 9:30 last night (2/16), Officers observed a white Ford Ranger disregarding traffic laws and endangering the public in the area of 5th St and Copper Ave NW. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle fled. Officers disengaged the stop. While on patrol at approximately 2133 hours, officers observed the same vehicle, now stationary, in the area of Granite Ave and 12th St NW. Officers attempted to contact the driver. The driver placed his vehicle in reverse and rammed an officers marked patrol vehicle multiple times. The officer was not in his vehicle when the suspect rammed the marked unit. The suspect then fled the area.

Officers attempted to catch up to the suspect, but were stopped by a train. The suspect then drove his vehicle to the area of the Albuquerque Sun Port, causing property damage, then finally coming to a stop at the 2200 block of Yale SE. Air 1 was on scene and able to observe the vehicle and driver. Southeast Area Command units quickly responded to the 2200 block of Yale SE and were able to take the driver into custody. Officers located at least one open container of alcohol in the vehicle. The suspect has been identified as Kevin Reiniche. His is 47 years old and was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Aggravated DWI.
