Woman, 25, Charged In Tennessee Homicide Case

Buren County, Tenn. — A joint investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, deputies with the Bledsoe County Sheriff’s Department and officers with the Pikeville Police Department has resulted in the arrest of a Pikeville woman on a charge of criminal homicide.

TBI Agents joined Bledsoe County deputies and Pikeville Police officers in a missing person investigation. Thomas R. Rogers, 30, of Pikeville had been reported missing by a family member the day before. On April 24th, a deputy found Rogers’ body in a barrel in a wooded area off Valley View Road in Pikeville.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

Agents and deputies identified Nakayla Sullivan as being responsible for the death of Thomas Rogers.

On Thursday, Nakayla Shawnta Sullivan, 25, was arrested and charged with one count of Criminal Homicide. She was booked into the Bledsoe County Jail. No bond has been set at this time.

Two other people were taken into custody and questioned.

The investigation remains ongoing.
