Grayson, Kentucky – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Critical Incident Response Team are investigating an officer involved shooting after a domestic disturbance in Carter County.
Police say that on Friday, March 1, 2019, at 11:23 P.M. EST, KSP Post 14 was notified by Carter County 911 that a physical altercation had occurred on Damron Mayo Road, involving a female suspect and a family member. Troopers responded but were unable to locate the accused, as she had fled the scene on foot prior to their arrival. At approximately 01:38 A.M., Troopers learned that the woman was back at the residence, and was possibly carrying a firearm. As Troopers re-approached the home, the suspect confronted them, which resulted in law enforcement firing shots. The female subject was pronounced deceased on location, due to injuries she sustained as a consequence of the shooting.
Neither the suspect’s nor the involved Troopers’ names were released.
The investigation is ongoing by members of the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team.
