LONG BEACH, Calif. – In the early hours of Saturday morning, a woman was fatally shot by a man in Long Beach after she reportedly confronted multiple residents and assaulted one of them.

The incident unfolded around 1 a.m. on Roycroft Avenue in the 600 block.

According to local media, an unidentified woman aggressively banged on the front doors of several homes in the neighborhood, demanding entry or claiming that the residents owed her money.

One resident told the woman to leave, and as she was departing, another female resident pulled into her driveway. Witnesses reported that the woman rushed towards the arriving resident, blocking her from exiting the vehicle. Subsequently, the woman allegedly dragged the driver out of the car and assaulted her with a stick. The victim’s cries for help attracted the attention of several neighbors, who emerged from their homes.

Among the concerned neighbors was an armed man who brandished a handgun and ordered the woman to stop her attack, witnesses said. The woman supposedly then charged at the man, prompting him to discharge a single round. The woman collapsed to the ground and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, no arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing, police said.
