ANNAPOLIS, Md. – On Tuesday, around 12:30 a.m. officers responded to the block of West Street for report of a woman shot. Officers arrived and located the victim. Officers and emergency medical services personnel attempted life saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity was not revealed by police but local media reports the woman was the mother of a Naval Academy Midshipman.
Police say the woman was sitting on a patio area at a hotel when she was struck and was not the intended target. It is believed the shots were fired on Pleasant Street and a stray bullet travelled a distance to the victim.
