NASHVILLE – Quick police response to shots fired outside 3000 Bar, 1516A Demonbreun Street Saturday at 1 a.m. led to the arrest of Jonerica Johnson, 28, who allegedly started indiscriminately shooting into the air during a verbal argument. One of the shots struck a 48-year-old woman inside an apartment across the street.

Johnson and several others in her group had been asked to leave the bar following an argument. They continued the dispute outside when, according to witnesses, Johnson removed a pistol from her clothing and fired a single shot into the air (surveillance video attached). She then crossed the street and appeared to fire additional shots into the air.

Investigation shows that the first shot likely struck the victim. The projectile entered the base of the victim’s apartment window at an upward angle, through the arm of a couch where the victim had been asleep, before striking her in the leg. She reported that she heard two additional shots fired after she was struck. The woman was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where she was treated and released.

Johnson was located and taken into custody by officers working as part of the police department’s Entertainment District Initiative. She is charged with reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and possession of a handgun while under the influence. She is free on $10,000 bond.
