FRAMINGHAM – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Framingham Police Chief Lester Baker have confirmed the identity of the victim of an apparent homicide in Framingham as Jasmyn Beatty, 28 — a resident of Halstead Apartments in Framingham.

On Tuesday, around 8:30 a.m., Framingham Police received a 911 call from “a person known to Jasmyn Beatty reporting that she was dead” in her apartment, Ryan said.

Police located Beatty, who had suffered “obvious trauma,” Ryan said. “The death is being investigated as an apparent homicide. Investigators are in the very early stages of the investigation and have still not yet made a determination about whether or not this is an isolated incident.”

“Based on the evidence that we have gathered so far, the nature of the injury suffered by Jasmyn, which was a significant slash wound to the back of the neck, we are investigating this as a homicide,” Ryan told reporters.

“Right now, unfortunately, we are not able to say, in these early stages, whether this was a random attack or was committed by someone known to Jasmyn,” Ryan said. “That is particularly troubling for the rest of the Halstead apartment complex, where Jasmyn lived. We know that what we are saying today, while it provides information does, not restore the sense of security that we all so desperately seek in our home.”

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will make a determination on the cause and manner of death.

“She was a beloved daughter. Graduate of the University of Rhode Island. Like so many of us, working remotely up here in Framingham during the pandemic,” Ryan said.

If any member of the public saw anything unusual early this morning in the area of 1640 Worcester Road or specifically the Halstead Apartment property complex, they are urged to call Framingham Police at 508-532-5911 or 508-872-1212.
