A father from Minnesota has been charged with killing his 10-year-old son and then throwing the boy’s body in the river has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Pierre Collins has long denied any involvement in the killing of his son. But he later admitted on Monday to striking the boy, then proceeding to bind him with duct tape and finally tossing him in the Mississippi river near Minneapolis, the child’s body was later discovered three weeks later.
After pleading guilty to second-degree intentional murder, the 33-year-old stated; “I killed my son. I killed my son,” Pierre Collins said on Monday in Hennepin County District Court, describing the mans actions outside their Crystal apartment building after the boy had been dropped off his school van. “I hit him and he hell.”
Collins was given a longer than usual because they boy was considered vulnerable and because hiding Barway’s body was particularly cruel.
County Judge Tanya Bransford said: ‘His actions caused great pain … to the whole community,’ she said. ‘It is unimaginable that a parent would kill their own child.’
